Pretty good image for a camera phone. Does everyone ride a Bandit or is that just a color registration problem with the camera phone?

The red one is a Honda Hornet (or what's sold as a Honda 599 to you guys) and the yellow one is a Triumph Daytona 650. It's a bit hard to tell what with the pic quality and all the snow.

We yanks are getting the Hornet here this year. I got to ride one. It is a truly awesome bike. Funny how it is so easy to stick one's nose in the air and dismiss a bike like this as "too small". Those of us without the "Superior attitudes" get so much fun!
I wish we got more snow here.

I love the Hornet's look and styling and nearly bought one instead of the SV, but what put me off was that they're quite thirsty and have a limited tank range so I'd be filling it up every two days.
I wouldn't mind a ride on the 900 though.

Irondad and Mick the last company I worked for owned two Honda Motorbike dealerships so I've had a go on the Hornet. You're both right it's a fantastic bike and it's just so easy to ride (and ride fast too if you want to). It's very comfortable and easy to chuck on it's ear. It is too thirsty though, with a proven 600 engine I would expect Honda to get it to return better mpg. That was a deal breaker for me as well Mick. The Z750 felt like a Hornet but had more grunt, sounded better, returned excellent fuel economy and just looked and sounded mean. The Hornet 900 is on my shortlist for replacing my Zed, if I get a ride on one I'll report back. Irondad I thought you guys have had the Hornet for ages, my mistake. Shame, it was one of the bikes I was thinking about pottering around the States on.

You'd have loved that snow fall Dad, it was thick fluffy flakes falling thick and fast. Sadly it didn't settle for long but it was great while it snowed.

Ah that's what I was thinking of Irondad, I was certain you had some form of the Hornet! Cheers for clearing that up. I might be able to pick up a cheap one of those for my American tour.

We have had the Hornet, as the 599, for a couple years. Honda stopped importing it for 2005, since there were so many '03s and '04s unsold. I tried it out on the showroom floor, too cramped for me. (I'm a big guy with bad knees.) Really wanted the 919, but same problem. Finally went with a Suzuki DL1000. LOVE THAT V-TWIN! It's Wheelie, Wheelie Fun. >:)

Aha! I was right you have had the Hornet 600. That's top of my list for a cheapy bike to ride in the States this summer.

That's a fantastic engine in the Vstrom 1000, originally from the hooligans favourite - the TL1000. I've ridden the SV with that engine and it was fantastic. I think I'm an inline four man though.

Ok, I'm man enough to admit I stand corrected on the Hornet thing. I had it in my head that Honda quit shipping them here. After Dave T commented it brought back a memory of a magazine review. It seemed there was only a few hundred dollars between the 599 and 919. The comment was made "shy buy the 599 when you can get the bigger motor for only a little more". Sorry about the duff information.
