Daft abbreviations (or the DA1.a post)

One of the things that annoys me about the design community to a small extent and the computer fraternity to a larger extent is stupid abbreviations. Jargon's bad enough but when meaning's are hidden behind combinations like "REh9" then only the select (or should I say |337?) can know what it means. It's deliberately exclusive and it winds me up. The web design community has sporadic out-breaks of this syndrome but by far the worst are the *Nix geeks. They can't give anything a sensible name. Go and try Linux and the applications have names like "jgh765Jh." For crying out loud! I'm looking for an application to perform a specific task and I have to pick from application names that look like they've been encrypted? Where's the sense in that? Just use normal names, please.
Another thing that has long annoyed me is people talking loudly on mobile phones whilst you ride home on the train and at last there's an answer.
