Chavs nil, Mad three.

I had quite a weekend (yes I know I'm writing about it on Wednesday but I didn't feel like blogging before this).

I took Friday off and just enjoyed myself swaning around the back lanes on my Bandit 400 and looking at bike shops. The weather was lovely.

Saturday I rode down to Hemel Hempstead (75 miles away) to look at a Kawasaki Z750 I'd found on Bike Trader. I've never ridden the little 4 that far before and I must say she did very well - even on the M1 on the way home.

The Z750 in Hemel was superb:
Black (black ones are fasterer).
950 miles (not even quite run in!).
£300 Meta alarm/immobiliser system (I get to press a blipper thingy).
Tyres have puncture sealant in them (peace of mind).
Lovely BT012 tyres.
Handles like a BMX.
Pulls like a train!
Plus the guy (who was really nice) was selling it way below list price. I loved it as soon as I pulled away on it. It's just right for me, very comfy and confidence inspiring.

So on Sunday morning Andy (thanks Andy) drove me down to Hemel, I handed over a wad of cash and rode home on a mad kwak! I am now a two bike owner!

The end of the weekend was just as exciting it turns out. I got home that evening and had to figure out how to store two bikes at the back of my house. I put the new Z behind the house and chained the Bandit under a cover in the driveway. Later as my paranoia overcame me I decided to look out of the driveway window just to check on the Bandit. It was there but I could hear shouting from the street, which turned out to be three youths pushing an, obviously stolen, motorbike as fast as they could run. Heroically I decided not to give chase (I had no shoes on) and called the Police. An hour later a policeman turned up on my door. They'd caught the offenders and retrieved the bike! Result. All thanks to me. They also annoyed me no end by taking a statement at eleven o'clock at night and then ringing me back at one thirty in the morning. But I'm chuffed I helped catch some bike stealing pond-life.
