Assen MotoGP qualifying

For full results go here.

Rain again.

Rain during qualifying always turns things on their heads. The rain specialist Vermeulen is on pole with his countryman Stoner in second. De Puniet took his Kawasaki to third (lovely to see a Kwak on the front row!). Look at that a front row with no Hondas or Yamahas.

Behind them is Melandri, Hopkins and Edwards.

Anthony West is in seventh, again a very good result for only his second MotoGP qualifying session. He shares the third row with Hofmann and Pedrosa. Nice to see Hofmann so far up the grid.

So where's Rossi? Languishing on the fourth row with Capirossi and Barros. He really has some work to do when the flag drops. Hayden's even further back on the row behind him.

It's looking like it's going to be Casey Stoner again then. The guys who can match him and the Ducati are probably to far down the grid.
