5 Most Unusual Website Layouts

There are millions of websites on the internet, and there are millions of different website designs. Yet as we look at different websites, it seems like there is a lot in common between them all. Even two websites that have completely different color schemes can have very similar layouts. There are so many blog templates that have a simple center column of text and a sidebar, and maybe an unimaginative header to top that off. In this article, we're going to explore the 5 most unusual website layouts we've found. It's impossible to get anywhere near scouring the whole internet, and even if we did, we couldn't guarantee that you would agree with which 5 sites are the most unusual, but we've done some pretty through searching, and think you'll be interested to see some of the very unusual layouts that we've found. We’re ignoring sites which are unusually bad – we’re looking for unique site, but which are still well-designed.

  1. The Secret Location

This is a contender for one of the best sites I've ever seen. When you first go to the site, you are confronted by a message asking you to put the site in full-screen mode and telling you that you will have to make some decisions. You then get to watch a compelling action movie in which you get to make several decisions in order to determine the outcome. The one criticism that I have is that It's a little difficult to tell exactly what the site is for, but it is a really well made movie.

  2. Village

Village's awesome home page is a variety of different modules which you can drag and move around. This gives the user a cool and unique way of interacting with the page.

  3. Birds

This page nicely uses design elements which seem to be hanging from the top of the page and are all slightly tilted in one direction or the other. This is a nice effect, although it does worry us that it is going to fall over.

  4. 3rdM

This page uses a collection of large icons on its home page. This type of approach is very rare in web design and gives it an almost iPhone-ish look.

  5. NOFRKS Design Studio

This website is not made up of different pages, but rather one page which scrolls so you can see different parts of the page. The design is very good and there are even two different themes that the user can see the home section in.
