Welcome to MadTV
This is my site about me and what I'm up to.
My name is Matthew Allen and I am a web developer in the United Kingdom. This is my personal site and is intended to serve several purposes. Firstly it's an area for me to play, secondly it's an area where potential employers can see what kind of stuff I've done. Lastly it's a place for me to "Blog", in other words to keep an online journal. I've also used this as an opportunity to put my Father's book chapters and general thoughts online. I've built him a blog under the title "Gone Away" in the navigation. His journal and writing are very entertaining, please go have a read.
This site began life as a Flash site that dynamically pulled in content from external files. Recently it became an XHTML/CSS site that validated as such. Since then I've begun developing it further with ASP.NET. This is a wonderful development environment but it does cause problems with validation. Visual Studio loves to add capitalisation to HTML and the .NET framework makes assumptions about browser types and feeds them content accordingly. These minor niggles stop my site validating sometimes. So if you click one the XHTML or CSS buttons and you see errors that's probably why (or I could've just made an old fashioned mistake!). Please don't hesitate to contact me about anything you see here.
